Subject: post adrenal surgery behavior

Hi,

My four year old male Sampson had his left adrenal gland
removed on Monday. The vet also took a look at his pancreas
as the glucose levels were very low, but the pancreas looked
clean. The vet was unable to remove any of the right adrenal
gland as Sampson's liver and intestinal tract kept getting in
the way. Sampson stayed overnight at the vet's for
observation and I picked him up on Tuesday. He was alert and
happy when I picked him up, but he quickly went to sleep when
we got home. Since then he has pretty much slept. He wakes
up every few hours to eat, drink, and go to the bathroom, but
he is only awake for about 15 minutes at a time. Is it normal
for ferrets to sleep this much post-surgery or should I be
concerned? We haven't let him play with the other ferrets
yet, so maybe he is bored. Any suggestions?
