Subject: Re: post adrenal surgery behavior

Hi, Dia,

Different ferrets bounce back differently after major surgery. Some are
active almost immediately, while others sleep a whole lot and recover
the first few days. Unless they are too active too quickly and reopen
the incision, there really seems to be no difference as to how the long
term recovery turns out. My Ker Avon was out of sorts for about three
days, then was his old self very quickly after that. Pertwee, OTOH, ran
off when I didn't close his cage fast enough and led us on a merry chase
after his *second* adrenal surgery. Both had very successful
recoveries.

Now, if this continues beyond the next couple of days, you may have an
issue. It could be boredom or depression. Try closely supervised play
(no jumping, climbing, or wrestling) with other ferts and see if Sampson
perks up. We put Pertwee back in the general population very quickly
(with our vet's blessing) for just this reason.

Finally, if that doesn't do it, a recheck at the vet's office never
hurts.

I hope this helps, and I hope Sampson recovers well.

All the best,
Caity and the notorious nine
