Subject: Dextromethorphan
Pumkin has a terribly stuffed nose and he's sneezing and watery eyes. I
bought a pediatric cold medicine that contains pseudoephedrine 7.5 mg/5ml
and dextromethorphan 2.5 mg/5ml. I know he doesn't need the cough
suppressant but it was all the store in our town had yesterday. Is this
safe to give him 3 drops of?
I've used pediatric sudafed for them before and children's triaminic cold
formula (orange color) (chlorphenaramine maleate 1mg/5ml, psuedoephedrine
15mg/5ml - which I bought today) but not this other one. Pumkin is so
stuffed and sneezy that he isn't eating (I get him unstuffed
slightly by steamed bathroom, warm packs over bridge of nose, ferret rx) on
his own. When I feed him I have to hold him up so he can swallow in between
breathing out of his mouth. He's on amoxi too.
So are the pediatric drops safe or should I stick with the triaminic cold
formula?
hugs to all. tle
