It sounds as you really should have your ferret on
PREDNISONE for her insulinoma, you need to consult
with your vet as soon as possible! Even if you feel
that you do not want to do surgery again which is
understandable, you may want to try LUPRON/Melatonin
to help her adrenal condition, but I would not be
concerned about the PRED at this point!
If you do nothing about the insulinoma she could die
from that very soon, as you mentioned 'her time may be
running out', but you certainly could make her
remaining time much more comfortable by giving her
Pred or Proglycem, whichever your vet recommends!
Many of our ferrets have taken Pred for 4 years or
more and haven't had adrenal problems, but there again
the majority of adrenal ferrets seem to develop
insulinoma as time goes by and we have still
adminstered Pred to keep the blood glucose under
control and to stop those horrible seizures---Angela.
