Subject: Ear Mite Questions
Hi All,
My Husband took one of our ferrets in to the vet yesterday. I
suspected he had an ear infection; he was rubbing one side of his
face against his cage, and he had a sweet smell. It turns out he has
ear mites. The vet said he probably got them from our cat that is an
indoor/outdoor cat. Our vet since she sees all of our animals on a
regular basis gave us prescriptions for all seven of our animals. My
husband and I dosed all the animals last night and were told to bath
the ferrets and wash all their cages items today. My questions are,
is there something special we should be washing their towels in?
Should we try to find a medicated shampoo or is the regular shampoo
we use for the ferrets ok? Is there a spray we should use on our
furniture? Lastly is there anything we can do to keep them from
getting ear mites again? It was very expensive to treat all our
animals, and it didn't look like it was very much fun for the ferrets!
Thanks
Jen
