Subject: Good news about insulinoma surgery!

And now, for some good news in ferret health:

The surgery for my five year old boy's insulinoma on monday
went extremely well, with no complications and no additional
problems found when we opened him up (adrenals fine, spleen
fine, everything looking good). Even the pancreas looked
relatively good, with few visible abnormalities, and we took a
small enough amount that if he relapses, we can do another
surgery. In short, it was great, and he is recovering nicely, with
his blood glucose being about 130 this morning. He seems
tired but not sore, and is eating, drinking and making bowel
movements. I'm thrilled, and especially glad to have such a
wonderful vet!

I talked to the vet about a raw diet, and she agreed, so when he
recovers fully I'm going to try to switch him to pinkie mice. We'll
see if the picky little man will eat them :).

Thanks again to all who sent well wishes our way, and who
helped us through all the confusion when this first happened.
And especially, in memory of Chance, who was our online
inspiration to go through with it.

Best of luck to all the furries (and their keepers),
