Subject: Coughing/Wheezing Ferret
We have a 9 month old male ferret named Spaz. For the last two
months he has been wheezing/coughing when he first wakes up. He does
this only sometimes but not all the time. We have been to the vet.
First they thought he had the flu. Went back again cause it still
had not stopped and they gave him some antibiotics to see if his
cold/flu turned into an infection. Still he is couhging. I thought
that maybe it was an allergy since it is not a constant thing. So I
switched his litter to a non-clumping litter. He is still
coughing/wheezing a little.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Also as far as litter what
kind would be the best for a sesitive ferret? brands that you all
may use would be a start. First time ferret mommy. We are going to
get him a friend as well to play with but wanted to be sure he was
ok first before we bring another one in. He is playful as ever like
the coughing/wheezing never happens when he is running around just
when he first wakes up. Typically at night and it is loud cause I
can hear him across the house.
Any help and or suggestions would be wonderful.
