Subject: Re: Bacterial infection

Hello,

I am rehabing ferrets with a bacterium pasturella. One was just
taking off the meds. She was on it since or I should say the second
time since Jan. She was taking off last week. The other one has
been on since Feb. Depending on the bacterium, I would try to do
some research on, when you get time, it may be more than 7 days
required. The one ferret that is still on also was on preds. But,
preds can cause the healing process to be hampered. So, along with
the antibiotics I have to make sure he eats properly and enough.
Try to find out enough about the bacteria your ferret has. The
other thing that worked for me. I bleach the cages everyday. Pick
up soiled stuff in cage on site. Really, try to keep things clean
and fresh. That's what I think broke the chain. We were getting to
the stage that if the pasturella chain was not broken some ferrets
may have to be put to sleep because of the continum of antibiotics
not doing anything. Keep working on it.
