Subject: Lyme disease

This sounds suspicious for a skin tumor, they tend to be itchy, the
ferret scratches the area making it bleed, it scabs the scab falls off,
and the whole cycle begins again. If it is a tick in there it is an
awful
long time, it should be big and fat and probably have died by now,
a vet should check this out.

Now, to answer your question, either frontline or advantage can
be used safely on ferrets to prevent fleas and ticks, I use Frontline
on my dogs and cats as well and we like it.
You can search the archives on the FHL for lots of info on these
and for doses. I don't know about Lyme disease, but there are
certainly lots of other tick borne illnesses, plus fleas and so it
is a good idea to use a preventative medication.

Good luck,

Patty
