I agree. For I had an Australian shepard as well as 2
cats and a ferret and they would all run through the
house takin turns playing chase. The dog and ferret
had never seen one of the other before then. The cat
had been raised with other ferrets off and on. My
opinion is that all creatures can indeed get along. I
would just let mine down to play and off they went
running. Mostly it was the dog running from the
ferret cause of the ferrets size and 'odor'. Scared
the dog a bit at first. But soon they were both
nippin at each other in playtime.

I do agree, that you should either put ferret in space
where it can remain calm, and not smell the dog. As
well make sure the dog understands that at this time
the ferret isn't a playmate for a bit. And maybe
start introducing them slowly with each other on one
to one basis with you as the mediator. :)
