Subject: Arni goes to Akron
Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts about Arni last
night. I called the emergency vets in the Cleveland last
night but none will take ferrets any more. I was referred to
one in Akron so I started out at 1:30 a.me. The vet there
treated as follows:SQ fluids 30cc, Pepcid 0.25 mg SQ,
Sucralfate 12.5 mg po, PenG 0.05 ccSQ. She gave me a
Sucralfate suspension to give 0.12cc by mouth every eight
hours for 5 days. We got home at 5 am with feline a/d to try.
This morning he showed a little interest in licking the a/d
but still grinds his teeth when a small amount of food gets in
his mouth. She suspects that Arni has GI ulcerations. He is
surprisingly active for all he has been through. Many thanks
to all who urged me to get him to the emergency vet.
