Subject: Arni eating a little on his own

Hi to our ferret friends on the FHL who stayed up so late to
help me decide what to do last night. For me it was well
worth the trip to see Arni much improved. I will make a file
of your suggestions for food offerings for future use.
Whipping cream sounds like a good one. This afternoon Arni
nibbled at the a/d a little when I offered it on my finger.
Later he asked to be let out of the carrying cage that I put
him in so he could be in the same room with me for constant
observation. What did he do? He went to the cat's food dish
and grabbed several pieces of plain old Purina cat chow and
ate them as if they were a treat. They were what he was being
fed when I adopted him at three months. He has no interest in
any other treat. A reminder to all of us to get them started
young on the foods they will need when they are sick. Later
he ate a few pieces of his kibble.

My regular vet called this afternoon after receiving a fax
from the emergency vet. He still thinks it is very likely
that Arni has lymphoma and will do an aspirate. The trouble
is that the cortisone shots make the ulcer problem worse.
This is something we will have to work out. My vet is very
willing to learn new things.

Our love to all of you and your fuzzies,

Mary and Arni
