Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] losing hair
Hi Kathie,
We have quite a few ferrets that are waiting for adrenal
surgery and have tried both Lupron depot as well as Melatonin
as a stop gap. We have found that 1 mg of Melatonin mixed with
½ of Nutrical administered at about 2:00 PM every day will
tend to halt the hormone production and give Mandy a treat as
well. Give it a try because it has worked great with our guys
with their hair growing back and an attitude adjustment they
are doing super. In any event good luck with your little girl
and email me if you need additional instructions or
information.

Hi. Mandy, my 7 year old little girl is losing hair
down the middle of her back. Her tail is very thin and
she seems to be going bald. He feels good, eats her
kibble in addition to her chicken soup that she has
for breakfast and plays as much as a 7 year old. My
vet is out if town this week and her receptionist said
that Mandy probably has adrenal cancer and because of
her age just let her live her life as comfortable as
we can. At her age is it diffecult for surgery or
medication. She's such a sweetie that I don't want to
make her suffer. She's very petite, 1 pound if she's
wet so I wonder if her weight is a problem. She seems
very healthy except that she is blind (but don't tell
her that). Any help would be appreciated. I sure would
like to sleep at night and not worry that I'm doing
the wrong thing. Thanks Kathie
