Subject: Growth at the end of the tail.

I was playing with my ferret and I noticed a growth at the end of his
tail. It was ugly and it looked like a absess or a tumor with a black
like scab on it? We took him into the Vet and he wants to amputate
the tail around a quarter inch to remove it. He is also going to test
it I assume for cancer. Does this sound like a normal procedure. I
did a little research and it sound like Chordomu. The picture even
looked like it. Could you help me out with this and give a possible
explanation if this normal or not.

Thanks

Justin
