Subject: Ferrets transported interstate - Health Certificates
I have seen the certs that come with some pet stores ferrets. They
basically state that the ferret has "no known communicable diseases"
1) What diseases does this refer to; "communicable" to other
ferrets/humans?
2) If the ferret is picked up from the farm by a distributor, from
another state, is the distributor required to get another vet to sign
off on the Health Cert before it is yet "distributed" to another
state?
3) What window of time between the ferret farm and the distributor
placing them in stores, is the certificate valid?
4) In the farm vet signing off that the ferret has no known
communicable diseases, how is this diagnosis obtained - visual, CBC,
etc.?
Thank you.
Affectionately,
Barbara Clay
