May I ask why this is the case? Heart problems might pose a
complication with the excess fluid.

Annie was in renal failure from what I now believe was Aleutian's
Disease. We gave her 20ml of lactated ringer's solution twice daily
for several weeks and then once a day before weaning her off after
about a month of fluids. Her kidney function returned to almost
normal with this ferret version of dialysis. It was a huge
improvement!

I used sub-q injections but this web site shows a method of giving
fluids using a butterfly.
