Subject: Re: not eating

When we've ruled out blockage and the ferret isn't eating, I give them 1/8
of a tablet of cyproheptadine once a day. It relieves nausea and a side
effect is increased appetite. It's an antihistamine. Last week I had a
tummy virus, severe nausea, and the doctor prescribed Tigan for me but
since I didn't feel well enough to drive to the pharmacy I took 1/8 of a
cypro (I don't do well with antihistamines) and it not only calmed the
upset tummy but within an hour I was hungry so I can attest to that side
effect.

Might be something to discuss with your vet.

healing hugs. tle
