Subject: Arni diagnosed with lymphoma
The worst has happened. The veterinary oncologist confirmed
that the aspirate taken from a small lump in Arni's groin is
lymphoma. I think that the first vet who said that the x-ray
showed no masses was looking for an intestinal blockage as a
cause of the vomiting. Today's x-rays did not show any masses
in the digestive tract. The oncologist said that the
chocolate syrup stools that worried me over the weekend may
have been the intestines getting rid of the cells killed by
the injections of steroids given on Friday. Does that make
sense? He said to continue what is left of the Carafate that
the emergency vet prescribed. Arni was treated today with
Cytosar and will go back in one week for another treatment.
Meanwhile I am to give him Cytoxin every 4th day and
prednisone every day. After a big struggle I did NOT succeed
in getting the Cytoxin down him. He was very weak tonight.
His legs kept giving out. This morning he was running around
without problems and seemed to be feeling good. He must be
feeling the after effects of the Cytosar. This is a very
scary procedure. I hope I am doing the right thing for him.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks for any help
you can give me.
