Subject: Please help ferret with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia
I am working with my vet and we have a 6 year old ferret that
has Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. He is presently on Pred
twice aday but not doing so well. He is eating, pooping and
drinking but when he gets out of his cage he walks a few steps
and then lays down. His gums are very pale and he seems warm.
My vet also said he had regenarative anemia w/spherocytes. He
has seen this in dogs but never in a ferret and there is no
information in any of the books that he has or could find on
the web.
Is there something that you know of that can help this little
guy. His parnets are so worry and I think they are about to
say that it is time for him to cross. I think he still has
life within him that is why I am coming to you.
Please let me know as soon as you can since he will be at the
vet tomorrow morning early. I would like to give my vet as
much info as possible. If there is a site that he can go to
for more info on this subject, also please let me know.
Thank you for you help.
