Subject: Sabre: anti-biotics, lymphoma

hi all,

Sabre had some infection that was diagnosed kind of late, then
he was on 0.8cc Cephalexin for about a week, where he got better
after 3-4 days and then worse (symptoms were greeny poop, not
eating and enlarged lymph nodes). we took him back for an
emergency visit, and he was started on an injectable Cefazolin 0.2cc
and Metronidazole 0.4cc. also started a non-toxic chemo for the
lymphoma (can't remember the name).

anyways, been following the thread on Metronidaole and how the disease
can mutant and become not resistant, wondering if this is what is
happening with Sabre. he's been not eating on his own (except some
treats) since before we start him on the injectable, and his poop got
better, but now he's pooping about 5-6 times a day (he's force fed
about 5 times a day, 15cc each time, and he's drinking), and 1 or 2 of
those will have the greeny poop. I got the results back from a second
culture, they were looking for a coronavirus and found some virus
particles that could be it except there were no spikey things sticking
out.

so any suggestions on other alternatives, or how long will it take to
get better sicne his immune system is probably compromised due to
lymphoma. Sabre is one of those ferrets where everything has been it
could be this or it could be that.

ferrets are nothing but trouble <sigh>. thanx for any suggestions.
