We used lots of supplements with Sunny... CoQ10, L-Carnitine, taurine,
hawthorn, and later quercitin and even parsley and dandelion leaves
(diuretics). But, and this is important, my vet researched the initial
ones that are fairly mainstream and obtained doses from a board-certified
veterinary cardiologist; later, when things were into the more last-ditch
efforts, we consulted with a DVM that practices alternative medicine on
what else we could do.

I've rattled on a lot about Sunny... She did well and lived for just over
a year, starting with a pretty advanced case. For a time she actually
improved and her heart looked much better on echo. Then she unravelled
again and worsened pretty quickly. Hard to tell exactly what caused what,
when so much was used! She was also on the traditional things like
Digoxin, Benazepril (same class as Enalapril/Enacard), Lasix,
Spironolactone... I added everything to her soup; it was quite the
procedure. Thank goodness she ate it all willingly, although she did give
me "the look" when the parsley started going in. :)

Cheers,
