Subject: Re: Strange red mark on ferret's abdomen - any ideas?

I previously told Diane privately about my similar situation, but
wanted to briefly add it to the list, in case it changes what others
think it may be.

Last month two of my neutered male ferrets (one 7 and one 4.5)
developed little red circles perfectly round and identical to that
Diane describes. In the center of the cirlce was a little brown dot
that was somewhat raised. Neither of them showed any other symptoms
that I was aware of. These two ferrets are not caged together and
have never been in contact with each other. They, out of 37, are the
only two who developed the marks. When they were seen by the vet,
she had no idea what it was, but put them on amoxi to be safe.
Within a week the marks were gone with no scar remaining. (????)

better idea of what it looks like. It is located just below the ribs
in the area I would refer to as the solar plexus if she were human.
It is round, maybe a tiny bit bigger then the end of a pencil eraser
and has a little tuft of hair in the center. It is not raised nor
does it appear scabby or scaley.
