Subject: Suggestion for antibiotic prescriptions

When prescribing antibiotics, especially those that will be used for
longer than a week, my vet has the pharmacy dispense the medication
in the unreconstituted form. Meaning, it's not mixed with water. I
ask for four amber pill bottles of equal size. Then I measure out the
powder as equally as I can, into the four bottles. I divide the
amount of water listed on the bottle by 4, then I only reconstitute
one pill bottle at a time. That way, there's no waste when you have
meds that only have a shelf life of ten days or less. IMPORTANT NOTE:
MY PHARMACIST SAID THAT YOU MUST USE DISTILLED WATER TO RECONSTITUTE
THE ANTIBIOTICS. My vet didn't even know that.

I hope this info helps everyone out there battling IBD, helicobacter,
ECE, and the whatever other infections our fuzzies can be plagued by.
