Subject: protein abnormalities

hey all,

my 10 month old male, Spike, has some protein abnormalities. My vet
thinks it could be intestinal related. If anyone has expereinced
this before, or has some insight I'd really appreciate it. I'd just
like to be forewarned
about what to expect. I'll include as much info as I can, prolly
more than
is necessary :)

His albulin(sp ?) level is low at 2.8. His globulin levels are too
high at
3.0. The total protein level is 5.8, which is normal. His kidney
values are
100% normal. We had done Xrays for something else about a month ago
and all his organs loked fine there. My vet has him on antibiotics
(amoxil).
Symptoms include a loss of energy. he's not completely lethargic;
he's still
active and aware, but he takes 20-30 sec breaks often while playing.
Spike
will just go lie flat, play or explore for 5-10 min, take a break,
play/explore again, etc. Spike has much more energy in the morning
than afternoons or evening. His appetite has also dropped. I have
seen him eat, but not nearly as often as before. He used to chow
down at least twice during a 2 hour play period. now I've only seen
him eat 3 times in the last 3 days. He is eating, just not as much.
Stools have been a little soft, but the tests on that came back
negative. Today he had a very loose, almost liquid, yellowish
greenish stool.

He has had a recurring ear mite problem - we've been fighting it
since I
rescued him last October. We've done drops and topicals.

In the last month, I did switch them to a non clumping clay litter
(Tidy
cat). Before that we were using paper towels.

he did get his paws on the remote and chew off some buttons, but I
found
all the pieces, so I am fairly confident he didn't ingest any.

However, he did chew a cork pretty badily. I haven't found any of
those
pieces, but this was at least 2 months ago.

There is also have a lead paint warning for my apt. Its not that
they used
lead paint recently, but my building is old and all apts from the
70's must
forewarn the tennants about it.

That's all I can think of right now.

Thanks for your help!
