Low albumin and elevated globulins can often mean ADV
(Aleutians Disease Virus). One of the primary early symptoms
of ADV is loss of energy. Have your ferrets been tested for
ADV?
IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) can also cause elevated
globulins. There are 2 excellent articles on IBD available.
One is by Dr. Williams, and is in the current issue of ferrets
magazine. The other is by Dr. Mark Burgess, and a scanned
copy is located in the files section of the FHL website.
IBD needs to be confirmed with a biopsy, and treatment is
usually with prednisone or Imuran. Symptoms include diarrhea,
and weight loss, but are not always present.

ADV - If your ferret hasn't been tested, you don't know!
