Subject: Chemo treatment for lymphoma
Arni has been on the following treatment since April 4, 2002.
24mg Cytosar subQ once a week (Arni goes to the vet for
that), 6.25mg Cytoxan by mouth every 4th day, 2.5mg Pred every
day for the first week and 1.25mg Pred every other day after
the first week. Arni has improved since beginning this
treatment. His appetite is good and he gained an ounce the
first week of treatment. He has more energy at play time but
still not as much as before lymphoma struck. It is not easy
to get the Cytoxan down because Arni does not like treats, not
even Nutrical which all of my other ferrets have loved even
with crushed pills incorporated. I finally learned how to get
the pill way back in his throat where he has no choice but to
swallow it. Still it is not an easy job.
I also would like to hear the experiences of others who are
treating their ferrets for lymphoma. My prayers for all the
sick fuzzies.
