Subject: Question for Vets
Hello again from Australia!
I would be most grateful for some input about my
7-year old boy called CJ.
Last year I noticed that he had these spells where he
was staring into space and his back legs weren't
working very well. I immediately thought Insulinoma,
so took him to the vet for a blood test. That came
back within normal limits and the (ferret
knowledgeable) vet said that he thought it might be
neurological.
As he kept on getting these spells sporadically, I
took him back to the vet for an ultrasound. Nothing
suspicious was found and I was told all his organs
looked normal.
Today I saw CJ lying on the floor so I picked him up
and found that he had pooped and piddled where he lay.
I cleaned him up and put him on our bed and he just
lay there, not moving. I gave him some Nutripet to
see if that might help but he didn't want to lick it.
About 5 minutes later he seemed back to normal and
jumped off the bed, heading for the food dish.
Are there any further tests that I could ask to be
done to see what exactly is wrong with him, or could
these spells be caused by some neurological disorder
which is untreatable?
Many thanks for any advice/suggestions!
