Subject: is this normal recovery for helicobacter?

We treated Fig for a helicobacter infection for 7 days. She
was lethargic, was having abnormal stool (small, brown,
slimey, sometimes tarry) and had developed hind end weakness.
Because I lost a ferret to peritonitis from a helicobacter
infection my vet thought this was the most likely problem, and
if there was no improvement to bring her back to see him.
She's gradually becoming her old self again. Her hind end
weakness is very slowly improving. She's still having soft
granular stools. (it's been 10 days since we began with
antibiotics)

She is bright and alert. She tries to play with me and her
cagemate but stumbles. Is this something that normally takes a
while to correct? Does anyone have an explanation as to why
illnesses in ferrets are usually accompanied by hind end
weakness?
