Subject: Vet's disapproval of Cryo / adrenal gland

(I wish Dr. Weiss could have been here for this one!)

After seeing and reading the numerous posts and info regarding
cryosurgery of the adrenal gland, I decided to contact our local vet
and speak with their surgical specialist. I was hoping she would
offer some excitement and encouragement, as this seems to be a newly
introduced option.

Much to my dismay, she was shocked that anyone had even considered
this, given the adrenal gland's close proximity to major vessels, and
cited surrounding tissue damage as her main concern. She even asked
if I was aware that cryosurgery involved freezing the tissue and
causing necrosis - (of course).

Anyway, I offered her the well-written and easy-to-understand article
written by Dr. Weiss and available at his website. I emphasized his
claim that large blood vessels "have been shown to be very resistant
to the effects of freezing" and even faxed her a copy of the article.

Regardless, she held firm to her opinion that she would never attempt
it - that it was too risky.

I'd love to hear your opinions on this one - meanwhile I will
continue to search for a vet closer than 200 miles away who would be
willing to "attempt it".
