Subject: Re: Vet's disapproval of Cryo / adrenal gland

My vet in Baltimore,Md., Dr. X, did cryosurgery on my ferrets
right adrenal gland back in April 2000,she had a full recovery and was doing
well. We had her operated on again in Nov.2000 because we thought she had
another adrenal tumor on her left gland but it turned out she didn't so the
docter closed her up and she came home that evening. I'm sorry to say that we
lost her the next morning from a blood clot, this has caused me great
saddness since it turned out she never had to have the surgery in the first
place. My beautiful ferret was only 3.5 yrs old and she died for nothing,I
will never forgive myself for this. The next time I have a problem with
adrenal glands with any of my other ferrets I will do lupron injections, no
more surgery. My Buddy suffered a needless death and I miss her so much,I
failed her by not having a blood test done before I considered a second
surgery, this could have told me that her adrenal gland was fine and that she
was prone to a blood clot.
