Subject: Question re: sepsis

It was suggested to me that my Brenna who, despite a glucose level of
27 and classic symptoms of insulinoma, could possibly have sepsis
instead, since her biopsy results came back "normal pancreas" "no
islet cell tumors found". I realize there may be microscopic tumors
in parts of her pancreas that were not biopsied, but a differential
diagnosis was suggested of sepsis. I vaguely understand what sepsis
is...and that it can be fatal, but I'm wondering if something
wouldn't have shown up in her blood chemistry panel, seeing that this
is a blood borne bacterial infection. What, if any, are the symptoms
of sepsis besides hypoglycemia?

Sukie, if someone hasn't already mentioned it, suggest to tle that
she test for ADV. I know I probably sound like a "broken record" but
my ferrets with clinical Aleutian disease ALL started out with a week
or so of lethargy, not wanting to eat, etc. Naturally, these are
vague symptoms and could be many other things. In fact, Charmin'
Charlie had surgery for a suspected blockage when he first presented
with lethargy, lack of appetite and, subsequently, very little
stool. Since then, all of my kids sick with ADV have gone through
that same stage...then bounced back and acted perfectly normal...only
to begin wasting a few weeks later. ADV is just something she might
think about ruling out.
