Subject: Insuloma
My pal Footch has just been diagnosed with insuloma, and
being 4 years old and otherwise in good shape is a good
candidate for surgery.
I'm new to the list and need feedback. The ballpark estimate
for surgery is $800. That amount of cash represents a severe
dent to me - I've got little cash flow, I work for the Green
Party - but I'll certainly come up with it to save Footch's
life. (Let me make it very clear I'm not soliciting
donations).
Two questions: would folks whose woozles have had this
procedure recommend it? And secondly, is the $800 figure
pretty much the "going rate"? (God, I hate writing this).
Make that three questions: are there vet colleges that may
have the surgery done by students at a reduced rate? I live in
Harrisburg, PA, but am certainly willing to travel.
I'd be quite appreciative of any advice. If you'd like to
respond off-list, my email address is dkinney@greens.org.
Thanks very much,
Dan
