Subject: OT-Slightly injured young squirrel found.

I know this is OT, but people in my neighborhood brought a baby squirrel
to my attention this morning. Said it looked like the other "squirrels" I
have here, 4 funny ferrets. Go figure animal ignorant folks. From nose
to start of tail, this little squirrel is about 4 inches long, seems very
young to me. He(?) is favoring his right front paw, seems to have no
control over the area of his pads and nails, and totters around in circles
a lot. We have not physically touched him, so I don't know of any other
sore spots. He chitters and hisses and seems to scare very easily. The
only vet I have very local only deals with domestic animals, and I am
afraid to contact animal control as I am afraid the will just put him
down. Any suggestions?

[Now and then rules get relaxed if something is time sensitve, so am allowing this but replies must be PRIVATE directly to her rather than to to the list. The most recent contact info I have for the wildlife rehab council is 1-707-864-1761, iwrc@i..., but that is old and likely outdated. When rehabbers send her info, could you, please, also copy it to me at sukie -- at -- telocity.com ?.]
