Actually
ferrets acquire insulinoma and it is not like diabetes in humans

Yes, most of the time ferrets get insulinoma rather than diabetes,
but they can and do get diabetes as well. Sometimes it's an after
effect of surgery for insulinoma, sometimes it arises spontaneously.
The signs of diabetes in ferrets would be similar to the signs of
diabetes in other species - increased thirst, weight loss, sugar in
the urine, lots of urine, high blood sugar, etc.
