The metronidiazole is really rough on ferets. I feel that the stress of
giving it to them cancels for any good it might do. That routine usually
includes Pepto which is about as bad. A treatment that is easier on the
ferret is Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin (Biaxin) and Carafate. That takes
2 weeks where the other routine takes 4 weeks. The dosages for the newer
treatment are in Dr. Purcell's book, "Essentials of Ferrets".
