Subject: Alternative insulinoma treatments?
Hello,
Just a curious question for all of you. Another list (a vet
list) that I am on is looking for any alternative treatments
for insulinoma. This ferret has already had one surgery with
several nodules and a nasty left adrenal removed (w/ no
clinical signs of adrenal), required going back on pred a few
months later, and in just a few months, is already at the top
dose of both pred and diazoxide (proglycem), and still has
severe hypoglycemia (with seizures). They do not think that
this ferret could make it through a second surgery at this
point. I know that many people on this list have had success
with homeopathic treatments for various things, and may have
vets that have tried innovative things that have worked, but
didn't happen to write it up. Has anyone on this list had
success with something other than pred, diazoxide, and
surgery, and if so what? If you could e-mail me privately at
ferrets@kansas.net, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Shelley Knudsen
