Subject: SUV40- Fromm D Lymphoma connection?
An article was published several weeks ago in the
British medical journal the Lancet which implied that
the simian virus SUV40 which was (is?) used as the
carrier virus in polio vaccine was responsible for
approximately 40% of the non Hodgkin's Lymphoma cases
seen in people. I have not seen the article myself
yet, so this is 2nd hand.
One of my questions for any other old timers and
experts on the lists is, wasn't Fromm D (a predecessor
to Galaxy D) a simian based vaccine? I seem to
remember that the reason Galaxy was not approved for
ferrets specifically was that the carrier virus was a
chicken virus vs. a simian one that had been used in
the Fromm D. Does anyone recall this? Does anyone know
if it was SUV40 in the Fromm D?
From what I read in reference to the SUV4O in polio
vaccine it could be transmitted to people who did not
get the vaccine. If this is true, I am just wondering
if this is the source of all the Lymphoma we are
seeing in the ferrets.
Clearly, I am just SPECULATING here folks, but am
hoping some of our real scientists may have seen the
Lancet article and have an opinion.
