Subject: Found and bald patch on our little one...etc..

Hi everyone. I have a few questions and I'm hoping some of our
seasoned ferret lovers can help me out a bit.

We have 8 ferrets, the one in question right now is Cracker. He is a
little over 2yrs. old, cinnamon.

Yesterday I found a little smaller than a 1"x1" bald patch a little
above his left thigh area. At first I thought maybe he had a run in
with our 4mth old Lhasa Apso (Harley) but it doesn't look like a bite
wound and he never gets close enough to her anyway for that to
happen. I made his vet appt. with the ferret doctor for monday. Now
I'm beginning to wonder of any other possible symptoms which I might
have not noticed.

Along with the bald patch, I've also noticed:
1. His head and ears have a much stronger odor (the doctor had just
checked for ear mites and as of last month they had no ear mites), so
I let it go. I wash their bedding weekly so I know it's not that.
I'm wondering if they might need a bath, since I don't bathe them
often at all (I've had people tell me that you shouldn't bathe them
that often).

2. I had found vomit in their room last week but was convinced (due
to circumstantial evidence) that it was our one little girl who
vomits about once a year eat seems. Now I'm beginning to doubt
myself and that it might have been him.

3. He does sleep a lot more but he does come out to play with his
friends at least 1 to 2 times everyday and he does play with zeal.

4. He eats well and his poops look fine.

5. He's been treated in the past for dry, rough feet. Could this
maybe be a heat patch?

Sorry to go on and on. Just wanted to give you as much info. as I
could. Also** Where can I get the Slippery Elm Bark? Can it be used
as a supplement for healthy ferrets or is it just for those with
digestive problems?

Thanks again for any advice!
Best,
Linda
