Nothing you mention indicates strong GI upset which is not
responding to anythign else, and that's the situation in which
slippery elm bark was used by a member.
If the scent change had been with a bilateral fur loss I'd wonder
about a possible early adrenal neoplasia, but since it is
unilateral I'd have the vet check for parasites, fungal disease,
etc. at and near the bald patch, the ears, and the feet to eliminate
them as possibles. Remember that sine you have at least one
animal who goes in and out the parasite situation can change
over time.
Not sure exactly how to picture the feet from yor description, but
are you feeding a high quality foot with enough fat adn well
balanced nutrients in it?
