Subject: hind leg weakness
First of all, thank you to all that replied to the nail problem. Both
ferrets are now on Ivermectin.
Unfortunatly, the female, Dana, has another problem. First, she
started having loss of coordination which ended up in hind leg
weakness. She now pulls herself with her front legs to get around,
gets tired easily, and sleeps a lot. There seems to be a loss bladder
and bowel control. She paws at her mouth a lot. Dana refuses to eat
her ferret food but still wants cheerios and banana which I know I
shouldn't give her too much of. She has always had an enlarged
spleen. The vet gave us some a/d and Eukanuba nutritional
stress/weight gain formula, which she wouldn't eat either. She is
losing a lot of weight and I don't know what to feed her. The vet
took some x-rays which didn't show anything abnormal and a blood
glucose which was also normal. We are going to have another blood
glucose done in a few days to see if there are any changes.
Dana's symptoms point so much to insulinoma. I wonder if we should
just go ahead and treat her for that even if the blood glucose turns
out to be normal. Any ideas?
