Subject: Adopted Ferret

I agree with the Archetype, it seems to be a good additive
for a healthy diet,
but it is very expensive per pound, so if your ferret will eat
actual meat
and organs instead of the Archetype, that would be the way to
go.

As far as by-products go they are not as bad as you make them
out to be.
In fact, it is possible for a chicken by-product to be better
than the chicken added
to another food if the chicken by-product came for human grade
chicken meant to
sell to humans, and if the chicken in the other was rejected
as human grade and
is substandard. Also, there is nothing wrong with feeding a
carnivore the by-products,
in the wild this would have been part of the diet. I have no
problem with pet foods
that have this in their ingredients, and I am more cautious
with those that have
grains in their first 2 ingredients rather than some kind of
meat.

Other things to look at when it comes to ferret foods is the
percent fiber,
I don't think there is any perfect food out there, and don't
think that the foods you
are choosing are wrong, just not the only choices.

This is a good web site for unbiased information on pet foods,
although I recommend
reading a lot of different sources before making an informed
decision.

If you need an animal to gain weight you should get the
Wysong Archetype diet. I don't know if it is best to just
feed this food to ferrets or not or about the raw foods
diet. I have been feeding my fers the Archetype diet, Innova
Feline and Eagle Pack Super Premium ferret diet mixed
together. Also good foods are 8in1 Pro Super Premium
Ultimate Ferret Diet, Wysong Nurture Feline diet, and Path
Valley Farms ferret diet. I wouldn't feed my ferret
Marshall's, Totally Ferret, Mazuri, or Zupreem or the like.
Why? They all contain by-products and questionable
materials. By-products is the waste from the agriculture
business and slaughterhouses and can cause a vast array of
health problems and early death. Wysong, Innova, Eagle Pack,
and the 8in1 Ultimate aren't made out of byproducts and
contain much healthier ingrediants and natural
preservatives.
