Actually, I must disagree with such assertions. There are some
marvelous past posts on these things in the archives both here
at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-list
and at the FML which include detailed information from
specialists on this topic.

We have had ferrets in our family for 20 years now, and we do
use Marshall food (especially useful for ferrets which had it as a
kit food when they get ill later in life; as such it saved our 8 year
old Warp more than once for that reason), Totally Ferret foods,
the Ferret Store's store brand and more.

When one needs to gain weight and is not having trouble
digesting fats we have found that a/d (avialble from vets) is very
useful, nad vets also carry Feline zd which is among the things
that have helped when one has IBD. On the other hand, kibbled
diets are inappropraite for some other intestinal diseases like
ECE, and some ferrets with things like ECE have problems
processing the high fat levels in a/d.

I guess what I am moving toward is to say that numerous times
what works best for weight gain depends on the CAUSE of the
weight loss.

Meat baby food is an excellent thing to give when a bland diet is
needed. There is a fine section on feeding sick ferrets in vet,
Bruce Williams' afip website which you can find the address for
by going into the bookmarks section (or files section, or using
the search engine) at
