Subject: Update-adopted a 3 year old ferret this morning!

Thank-you for your helpful replies. The shelter ,our local SPCA, was
very dirty, and Jasper was housed in a dirty cage with no food,it
seemed as if they hadn't gotten around to him yet. When I asked for a
little food for him to mix with what I have at home or to at least
feed the clearly hungry guy, she seemed very put out and finally
parted with a few tablespoons. There are no other ferrets in the
shelter so I shudder to think how long it will lie around. She wouldn't
hear of helping in any way with the surgery for his tumor or cyst and
wouldnt waive or lower the adoption fee. However, This shelter is
notorious for putting alot of animals to sleep as I know a former
worker who used to cuddle the kittens before they were euthanised. She
said he would definitely have been put down so I couldn't very well
leave him there. He's a very sweet boy. I,m worried about his
unvaccinated state. Also he has a really dry brittle smelly coat. I
already bathed him because it seemed like an emergency and he seemed
to truly appreciate it! He is quite different than my shining beauty
named Carrot that recently died. I vow to take good care of him and
we're heading to the vet tommorow. My 2 daughters ages 1 and 8 already
love him despite my cautions not to become too attached because we
don't know if he'll be okay healthwise. My 8 year old will love him
unconditionally for as long as we're lucky to have him and He already
has me in his clutches! A sweet, sweet boy!
