Subject: Reminders and useful tips

We have a number of new members.

As old timers know (and regularly see on each digest), Yahoo
tends to put up a FALSE error message when a person send a
message through the website.

Unless your message has not shown up on site within 12 hours
do not send multiple copies of messages, please. I am sure
that you can imagine the mess we have with over 1,400
members if too may send in three to eight copies of a message.

You'll also note that we 6 moderators require that the parts you
quote be no larger than what you say. If there is a lot of dross for
vets and other experts to wade through, they are less amenable
to reading many of the messages, so that ferrets and humans in
need of help are less likely to get it, Please, be careful to trim off
extraneous material.

You are also more likely to get a reply if you make your questions
as clear as possible, and provide the results that current vet
care has derived.

You are most likely to get help if your post is not exclusionary.
With multiple experts and many very experienced ferret people
here your best bet for getting informative responses is to not
write either your subject line or text in ways that make those
others who may be able to help feel excluded from replying. It is
most effective to not ask for the replies of specific specialists or
sets of specialists as a result.

In the Files section at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-list
you will find a wonderful article by our co-moderator and
librarian, Pam Sessoms, on how to use the archives. As you
can imagine, with over 13,000 posts so far there are many very,
very helpful ones which answer many of the questions asked.

If your message does not add medical content (example: a
straight sympathy message) you need to send it privately rather
than publicly. To do so you can copy the address of the poster
and paste it into your "to" line or you can click on the address of
the person at the website instead of on "reply". "Reply" is for
public messages only.

If you enjoy readinfg message son-site but like digest format go
the Messages section and click on "Expand Messages". This
also works if the Yahoo ads cover part of a message in your
program.

Hope this helps.
