Subject: corn/bladder stones (Digest Number 724)
At the symposium, Dr. Purcell said that she saw a few ferrets
with stones right about the time that Iams changed their
formula, I think added the corn, to make it a little cheaper
and put into the supermarkets. Anyway, the theory was that
the formula change was enough to cause some ferrets to
get bladder stones. Of course, this would not be proof that
the two were linked, and I would think that a lot of vets
would
have been seeing this problem, but the point is that it is
possible
a small change in a formula could cause a problem, and that
ferrets do get stones.

I would be interested to know of the incidence of bladder
stones in
ferrets esp. as in the US most ferrets are fed dry kibble.
I have seen one ferret with a bladder stone.
