Subject: Urinary Blockages

I was directed here by a friend because a diagnosis is eluding
my vet for my 5 yr old ferret, Brutus.

He has had three urinary blockages in the past six weeks, two
did not have a related infection and the second one has. No
stones or crystals were found, but clots of white blood cells and
gelatinous looking chunks of material were floating in his urine
last night when the vet unblocked him on an emergency call last
night. He had just finished a course of baytril and keflex.

Several blood and urine panels have been run on him and his
white blood cell count has shown up chronically high. He has
had periods of anemia. Nothing else out of the ordinary has
been found, although no adrenal testing has been done yet. I
wish I had the exact test result numbers on hand to pass along.

In recent weeks Brutus has been itching more than usual, has
been excessively grooming my other ferrets, is lethargic, and
has been urinating/defecating outside his litterbox consistently.
He has also lost about one half pound since these blockages
began.

I would appreciate any input on my Brutus' condition. I want to
help him and have done everything I can but my vet needs some
help on this one since she is not used to seeing many ferrets.
