Subject: Please Help with ulcer question

Phoebe my 6 year old ferret who we think had or still has an ulcer
was treated with amoxi, carafate and pepcid the first time around.
Now she is getting amoxi, biaxin and when we can fit it in carafate.
She became ill one month ago. She was coughing, then stopped
eating. We have had her to three different vets? Her heart is
fine, lungs fine. She had several bloody stools in the beginning
which was the only sign of a possible ulcer which may have been
triggered by a cold? She was eating and drinking well most of the
time when fed babyfood. Now on day 10 of the biaxin and amoxi she
is just getting worse. She is not eating well, she is grinding her
teeth which increased with the antibiotics. She also has
intermittent diarrhea, that is better. She is now off balance a
little and weak. It is very difficult to get the biaxin into her.
I want to stop the treatment because she seems to get worse with
each dose. I know I should not do this, but I am not even sure it
is an ulcer? Shouldn't she be getting better not worse. She is
also a bilateral girl. She receives no meds for that. She did for
years, but no longer needs them and has not for a long time. Some
tissue must have regrown? What should I do? Our vets have no
suggestions. Please help!
Thank You
Kelly
