Subject: Gidget
My Gidget had adrenal surgery on Tuesday. Doing very well.
Problem is:
Removed the one adrenal, but the other one is involved too. Both
were "swollen". We are now awaiting the biopsy results to see if
the adrenal gland was tumorous or just swollen.?. Vet says it may
be caused by pituitary gland tumor. EVER HEARD OF THAT??? Seems
if it is Pituitary related, we will be putting her on Lysogen rather
than lupron. . We will have biopsy results on Mon. or Tues of next
week.
ALSO, Seems her left kidney is small and looks strange. Has blood
flow tho, so he did NOT remove it!! THANK GOD!!! Her lab values
were all normal, so that to me indicates nothing wrong with renal
status!!!!!!!!!!!! She has never exhibited any renal problems. I
am really getting scaared and wonder if I should trust this vet or
not. Anyone ever had this happen to them?
Incision looks good..nice and clean. Vet did give her a heavy dose
of prednisone during surgery and he insists that will take care of
any pain. Needless to say, I came home with NO pain meds. We are
to keep her from running around and keep her separate from the
others for 3 days postop.
I was supposed to take her food away at midnight but didn't.Thank
God I took her food away at 4 am rather than midnight! She didn't
get her surgery done until 11 am .
Has ANYONE ever heard of swollen adrenal glands? Has anyone ever
heard of Pituitary gland causing adrenal symptoms? Has anyone ever
heard of problems with the kidney like I described?
Thanks,
Sue and Gidget
