It's extremely unlikely that Gidget's adrenal problem is the result
of a pituitary problem. Pretty rare, or maybe even non-existant in
ferrets as I understand it. Seems to be more commonly associated
with adrenal problems in dogs.

Never heard of using pred for pain relief, but since it is an anti-
inflammatory, I suppose it could offer some benefit. I'm not a vet
so I don't know for sure. Gidget is past where she needs any pain
medication, so it's a moot point now.

I would be a little concerned as to the extent of their ferret
knowledge if they have you take her food away at midnight before
surgery. I'm glad you didn't listen to them!

Personally, I wouldn't go near Lysodren. I know some have reported
good results with its use, but I think they're in the vast minority.
You also have to be aware that if her blood glucose is low at all,
Lysodren can induce severe hypoglycemia. In the "old days" before we
knew about Lupron or even melatonin, Lysodren was really the only
option besides surgery. It wasn't a very good option. The two times
I tried it, it made my ferrets extremely ill.

Lupron is definitely the way to go if you need to do drug treatment.
