Subject: Re: whining with pooping

My Natasha (aged 7 1/2) whines a bit occasionally when
she poops. She is in fantastic health otherwise (she
looks about 3). I have found it seems to be because of
the dryness ie lack of oil in her kibble, and if I
give her a pea sized bite of either Nutrical or
hairball remedy, she is fine for at least a couple
days.

If your ferret stools are too loose I have used baby
rice cereal to help firm them up pretty successfully,
also canned pumpkin (yes pumpkin-but get the kind
without spices or sugar) is great for this and they
like the taste. Or, as in my 'Tasha's case it could be
not enough oil, though if you are getting loose stools
that probably is not the case. Check with your vet
about the baby rice or pumpkin and see if they may
help.

good luck!
